The Role of Insurers in Adaptation

This collaboration aims to explore the role of insurers in increasing customer resilience to weather events by focussing on real world case studies of actions that are already being taken around the world. 

The culmination of this year's work on this key subject was the 'Adapting to the Extreme Weather Impacts of Climate Change 2010' report, which was launched on 1 December 2010. This industry report brings together important case studies of how insurers are promoting loss prevention around the world, and identifies key lessons for the industry and government.

Next Steps:
The Adaptation Working Group will be taking the findings from the report forward in 2011 across the industry to raise the profile of this important agenda, which is so important to the core risk management expertise of the insurance industry.
