Allianz Insurance reaches carbon emissions target - 3 years early - April 2010

In 2006, Allianz Insurance set a target to reduce its CO2 emissions by 25% per employee by 2012. Based on measurements taken at the end of 2009, CO2 emissions had been successfully reduced by 31% per employee based on 2006 levels.

Measures taken include:
- Purchasing low-carbon, renewable energy;
- Improving the energy efficiency of plant, lighting and appliances;
- Engaging employees in switch-off campaigns to reduce energy;
- Greater monitoring and control of building management systems;
- Encouraging alternatives to travel, such as tele and video conferencing;
- Purchasing company vehicles with greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions ratings.

Richard Foulerton, CSR Manager said: "hitting our target early is a great result, but we remain committed to reducing our environmental impact even further to cut costs, improve operational efficiency and enhance our reputation.  We have a number of measures that we plan to implement over the coming years and we appreciate everyone's support as we continue to make progress."
